Ammunition Compartment Access door
. This door is located just below the two pilot's cockpit (see photos #11 & #12) and provides access to the ammunition feeding the weapons system in the chin-turret. Depending upon the model variation it held 7.62mm ammo, 40mm grenades, 20mm ammo.
Recently meticulously hand painted with the infamous sharks teeth
just as they did in the Vietnam-era. Photo #7 shows the concave 'inner-door' side. Has some dents and scratches, but in outstanding condition for a 50+ year old aircraft part.
Aircraft aluminum: 46 1/2" length, 19 1/2" width, 4 1/2" depth. Weight approx. 12 lbs.
I have one of these ammunition compartment access doors on my wall, as I was honored to fly the UH-1 Huey, OH-58 Kiowa, AH-1 Cobra and AH-64 Apache as an Army Aviator.
This door is the real deal and can be hung on the wall, brackets added to use as a shelf or legs added to use as a table or bar
