    Lebanon County was established in February 1813, when it was cut off from Dauphin County, which in turn had been taken in 1785 from Lancaster County.  Settlers began arriving in present-day Lebanon County in the 1730's, coming into the county from the south and the east.  The Scotch-Irish settled in the southwestern portion of the county.  By the 1740's most of the population was German
